As women we are often brought up to put others ahead of ourselves. To care deeply for others.

This is a beautiful quality. And, my journey has been to slowly learn to care for myself as much as I do others. To not ‘people please’ or put other people’s needs ahead of my own. To learn to say no! Even as I write this I hear that part of me that says ‘this will sound selfish’. But it’s not selfish to care for ourselves.

I can’t be present to another, truly care for another, if my own tank is not full. If I don’t learn to care for myself first. Learning to take care of myself, emotionally, physically, mentally and financially has been a slow but an incredibly rewarding journey. And this enables me to practice truly being myself and feeling confident from within.

With great warmth, Jo
